Department of Nephrology

Was formed in 1985,to offer nephrology services to the entire Rayalaseema region. Artificial Kidney unit was started in 1974 itself under the auspices of urology department headed by Dr.A.Vikram Simha Reddy, urologist. First hemodialysis was done with machine donated by local philanthropist,.In1985 Nephrology department was started and A.K.unit came under control of nephrology department.

The Nephrology Department offers general Nephrology services, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis services to acute renal failure, chronic renal failure and renal biopsies also are performed.The department of Nephrology has been headed by the Dr. Gopal kishan, Dr. Anuradha, Dr. RajaMallaiah, Dr. GirishNarayen, Dr. Pradeep deshpande, Dr.Aruna, & Dr.Venkateshwar Rao, in that order. Dr. RajaMallaiah has served in the department for long time. Presently the unit is managed by Dr. P.N.Jikki, MD DM. The department has conducted Continuing Medical Education programme and guest luctures in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015,2016, 2017, 2018. Camps for early detection of renal disease is coducted every year on world kidney day.

Presently Dr.P.N.Jikki is H.O.D., Dr.S. Ananth, Dr. M. Sreedhar Sharma, are assistant professors.

Dialysis Technician course was started in 2010.Maintanance Heamodialysis for ESRD patients are being given under PPP module since 2010.
