Department of Endocrinology

Endocrinology Department was started in the year 1986. Dr. R.P. Mathur, MD, DM, was the first Professor of Endocrinology, who joined on 30.1.1987 and worked for 6 months.

Later Dr. P. Shyam Sunder MD, DM has joined as the Professor of Endocrinology on 3.4.1989 and worked for 5 1/2 years and transferred to Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad on 17.11.1994. During this period, the department has got reputation and recognition from the public.

The Dr. P.R.Mathur has joined this institute as professor on 5.12.1994 and worked for 5 years upto 1999.

Then Dr. Bipinkumar Seth, MD, DM, has joined as a Professor and worked for 6 months from 20.12.2000 to 24.6.2001.

From 2001 to 2004 there were in charge professors to the Department.

Now at present Dr.P.Sreenivasulu, MD, DM,(PGI- Chandigarh) has joined on October 1st 2004 as Assistant Professor, promoted as Associate professor in 2010 and as Professor since September 2015. Dr.P.Radha Rani, MD.DM., is working as Asst. Professor and Dr.P.Padmaja, MD, (OBG) working as Tutor in the department.

The Department is actively involved in creating awareness in public regarding life style modifications for diabetes prevention and management. Every year the department is conducting CMEs on the occasion of on World Diabetes Day i.e. on 14th November and updating the doctors.

The Department also conducted thyroid CMEs to the faculty and awareness programmes to the public. In collaboration with SPM Department, started research activity regarding the prevalence of undiagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus in rural areas and urban slums.

This Department serves the people not only for Kurnool District but also for adjoining Districts.
