Department of Anaesthesiology

The Department Of Anesthesiology at Kurnool Medical College is a unique blend of dedication and education. From its humble origins, the department evolved and advanced spectacularly over a period of six decades. Dr Dhanraj was the founder HOD of the department.

The Department Of Anesthesiology is ably guided by well qualified and experienced faculty. It comprises of 3 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 12 Assistant Professors and 2 Tutors. The department is headed by Dr.C. Kailashnath Reddy, a brilliant academician and an accomplished anesthesiologist. The intake of Post-graduates is 7 MD's and 5 DA's every year. The department trains about 36 postgraduates, 30 Technicians and 5 LSAS doctors every year.

The Department is provided with 11 fully equipped and daily functioning Operation Theatres. Cardiothoracic Operation Theater is the latest addition and has State -of-the-art equipment and is a feather in the cap for the department. We have already done 80 cases; will be nearing 100 in a month. We also have a pain clinic and are providing services to Cathlab, CT, MRI, pain clinic, painless labour and Gastroenterology. Out of total 26,000 cases done last year, around 19,000 cases were operated under anaesthesia with mortality of less than 1% and rest was done under Monitored Anaesthesia care. CTVS (Cardio Thorasic and Vascular Surgery started 2016 and more than 200 cases have been succesfully done. The department has ranked as one of the best in Andhrapradesh. We have conducted two conferences - South Zone in 2003 and Silver Jubilee state conference in 2016 when Dr. kailashnath Reddy was the president of ISA, AP state that year. The ICU's were upgraded to suit the needs of medical, surgical, cardiac, respiratory and neonatal units. Here the patients are continuously monitored by the skilled professionals of the department. The department also runs two 24 hr Emergency theatres and Assessment clinic. We have regular teaching programme for the post graduates, anaesthesia technicians and LSAS trainees.

Finally the Department of Anaesthesiolgy is committed and hardworking with good teamwork and cooperation among all the faculty members making it one of the best departments in Kurnool Medical College.
