Department of Obstetrics Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology was started in 1957 with 90 beds with 03 units. The department containing OPD, Clean Labour Room, Septic Labour Room, Operation Theatre, Post operative Wards & three inpatient Wards under one Roof. The Urban Family Welfare Centre With 20 beds was created and the 4th Unit was brought in to existence with 30 beds enhancing the total bed strength to 120, in 1975.

Due to increase in population the public attending in outpatient Dept also increased. The statistics recorded during past few years in OPD consisting Antenatal, Post natal.

The OP consists of more than 20,000 patients per month and 1000 to 1200 deliveries per month to which include both caeserean deliveries and normal deliveries. The bed occupancy in 120 %.

We are doing antenatal services through certain Govt incentive Programme such as JANANI SURAKSHA YOGANA, TALLI BIDDA EXPRESS and providing NTR baby kits.

We identify and treat HIV positive mother through PPTCT and ours is the only centre where deliveries and operations are conducted to HIV patients. We achieved high credentials academically we shifted to New building in 2018 which is unique in AP state. We conducted many CME'S through FOGSI Kurnool conducted APCOG in 2003 and 2018 and FOGSI Force Teaching Programme in 2018.

Our teaching faculty presented and published many research papers in National and International journals.
